Does it support controllers?

Demonot supportedFull releaselisted as supported

The full release: the listing says yes. Full controller support, with DualShock and DualSense on top of that. Nobody has played 1.0 yet, so this is what the store page and the developer state, not something anyone has tested.

The free demo: no. None at all. If you tried the demo with a pad and nothing happened, that is the reason, and it is not something you can configure your way out of.

Not confirmed
Nobody has published a button map, and no Steam Deck verification status exists yet. “Full controller support” is a category the developer selects on their own listing. Valve’s definition is that the game is playable start to finish on a pad with no keyboard or mouse — but it is the studio asserting that, not Valve testing it, and it says nothing about which button does what.

Why this was worth asking twice

Two separate players asked on the Steam board, months apart, and both got the same answer. The confusion is structural rather than anyone’s fault: the demo and the full game are different store listings, and the demo listing does not carry the release build’s categories. Anyone checking the demo page for controller support finds nothing, correctly.

It is the same split that runs through most of what people believe about this game from the demo — the full list of stated differences is worth a look before you decide the release plays the way the demo did.

One thing a pad will not fix

The complaint most often filed next to controller questions is motion sickness, and that is unrelated to input. There is a motion-blur toggle in the settings, which is the developer’s current suggestion; they have said they will consider an option to disable the wave motion but explicitly would not promise it. That, plus the rest of the comfort settings, is on the fixes page.

Controller questions

+Does Water You Doing? have controller support?

The store listing for the full release says so: it carries Full controller support, plus DualShock and DualSense. The developer confirmed the same when asked. Nobody outside the studio has played 1.0 yet, so that is the listing’s claim rather than a tested result. The free demo has none at all.

+Can I use a controller in the Water You Doing demo?

No. Asked twice on the Steam board, the developer answered that the demo has no controller support but the full release will.

+Does Water You Doing? work with a PS5 controller on PC?

The store page lists both DualShock and DualSense support for the PC release, so a PS5 pad is covered as an input device. There is no PlayStation version of the game itself.

+Is there Steam Deck support?

The developer has not published a Steam Deck verification status, and Valve had not rated the game at the time of writing. Full controller support makes it plausible; nobody has stated it.
