Driving the boat
The boat is the game. It is fully physics-driven, it handles like the wreck it is, and almost every crisis in a session traces back to something on this page being ignored. Here is what each control does and where the traps are.

The helm menu
- 01
Five options, read verbatim off the screen
Taking the wheel opens a short menu: get up, start engine, reset throttle, honk, switch lights. That is the whole surface — steering itself is just the wheel, and everything else on the boat lives somewhere physical rather than in this menu.

Reset Throttle was added after the demo launched
Hotfix #4 added the Reset Throttle control outright, along with a faster throwing-power charge. Patch 06.09H later added a bell to the boat and a speed boost before the boat jump. Older footage predates all three.

Reading the gauges
Flooding, fire and turbine damage
The pilot house carries monitoring for three failure modes at once: water coming in, something on fire, and turbine damage. They are independent — you can be sinking and burning simultaneously, and the game expects you to triage.

Plus a Boat Health readout in the release build
Patch 06.09G clamped the Boat Health UI, and Hotfix #6 fixed the turbine damage display not updating correctly. Both confirm these gauges are real systems the developer maintains, not set dressing.

Fuel, oil, anchor and lights
Oil and fuel are two different resources
Players are shown handling both, and pouring oil into the engine as a distinct action from refuelling. Both are consumed, so a long leg needs someone watching them.

The anchor is its own interaction, and the boat stops slowly
Dropping anchor is not on the helm menu — you go to it. And momentum is real: “don’t go too fast, it takes a while to slow down.” Plan your stop well before the dock.

Lights, and emergency lighting when the engine is off
Hotfix #1 added emergency lighting while the engine is switched off and increased night visibility; Hotfix #4 stopped players activating boat lights after the boat had been destroyed. Nights are genuinely dark, so the light switch matters more than it sounds.
Boat modules
The hull is modular, and slots exist
Three separate patches refer to the same system: boat module slots not rotating properly, additional harpoon modules, and a later fix to harpoon slots. Footage backs it up — one player hit a prompt reading “fix sonar: missing module”, and another was told to “put module”.

Not confirmed
We cannot give you a module list, what each does, or where they come from. The patch notes name the system without describing it, and no demo run assembled one on camera. That table gets built after release from the finished game, not from inference.
Storage, and why the deck fills up
The boat has storage slots, and Hotfix #4 added two more of them plus a sound when you take an item out. That patch also adjusted where the slots sit, because the deck of a moving physics boat is a bad place to leave anything loose. If you are wondering why everyone keeps dropping things, see the one-item rule — it shapes every job on board, including repairs and fishing.
Boat questions
+How do you start the engine in Water You Doing?
Take the helm and pick 'start engine' from the menu that appears. The same menu carries get up, reset throttle, honk and switch lights. If the boat still will not move afterwards, check whether a harpoon is still attached.
+How do you stop the boat in Water You Doing?
Reset Throttle brings the engine back to neutral, and the anchor is a separate interaction elsewhere on the boat. Neither is instant — the boat carries a lot of momentum and takes a long while to slow down.
+What are the gauges in the pilot house?
Footage shows monitoring for flooding, fire and turbine damage. The release build also has a Boat Health readout, which the developer referred to by name in patch 06.09G.
+Does the boat need fuel in Water You Doing?
Yes, and engine oil is tracked separately from fuel. Players are shown pouring oil into the engine, and both can run out. Neither appears on the helm menu, so it is a job someone has to remember to do.
